Our story
The Belgian Princess is born out of pure love and passion for waffles and baking. The owner of The Belgian Princess, Ilke Sappo, was born in Belgium and moved to the United States at a young age. Growing up, many summer vacations were spent in Belgium and winters in Vermont — a rhythm between two worlds that shaped everything she loves.
Ilke is extremely passionate about Belgian waffles and Belgian cuisine. Liège waffles and frites are among her favorites! When she visited her homeland as a child, she lived off Belgian treats — Belgian chocolate, frites, waffles, Nutella, and ice cream. Helping her grandmothers and parents make cherished family recipes, she truly learned from the best. She credits her waffle obsession to her mom, who would often make waffles on weekends or as a post-race snack for her ski team when Ilke was young.
Over the past ten years, Ilke has tinkered and mastered her waffle recipe, perfecting every detail until it was just right. After sharing her waffle treats with everyone she knows and seeing the joy it brings, she decided to take her passion to the next level — and share her waffles with the world.
Today, Ilke is blessed with an amazing husband and two beautiful daughters who inspire her every single day. What started as a labor of love at home has grown into something truly special, and she cannot wait to bring The Belgian Princess waffles to your table.
What makes our waffles so delicious?
For our waffles we use an authentic Belgian recipe with the finest ingredients. They are made from a dough and not a batter. Our dough is made fresh daily, and never frozen.
Our waffles can be enjoyed for breakfast, desert or a sweet treat anytime of the day.
They can be enjoyed plain or with any toppings of your choosing.
